Family History

Are you interested in completing your family tree? Resources and databases are available at the Genealogy Center to get you started, including the Library Edition of Ancestry.com.

Equipment is also available to digitize photos, negatives, slides, and videos.

Local History

The Genealogy Center contains records, files, photographs, directories, yearbooks, archives, and family and local histories of DeKalb County and the surrounding areas. There is a wealth of information available and a staff of those trained to assist with your exploration into the past.

Maps

Geographic maps from throughout DeKalb County's history, and the surrounding area, can be found at the Genealogy Center.

Newspaper Archives

Area newspapers are available to view on microfilm. These date back to the 1800s, and clippings can be saved in a digital format or printed for your convenience.

Online Photo Archives

An online archive of photos, documents, and artifacts that illuminate the rich, ongoing history of DeKalb County, Indiana and beyond.

Some of the images found in our photo archives contain sensitive material that may be upsetting or disturbing to view. These images are historically significant and products of the time in which they were taken. Views and actions portrayed in these photos are not condoned by Eckhart Public Library. Viewer discretion is advised.
