Volunteering at Eckhart Public Library

Are you interested in volunteering at Eckhart Public Library?

Please contact the Coordinator of Volunteer Services by emailing volunteer@epl.lib.in.us or calling 260-925-2414 ext. 401.

We will need a filled out Volunteer Application and Hold Harmless Agreement on file. If you’re under the age of 18, a signature from a parent or guardian is required. Before placement, individuals 18 years and older will be asked to submit to a criminal background check. Return completed forms to any Public Service Desk.

We are currently seeking individuals to volunteer in the following areas:

Learning STEAM through LEGOs Volunteer

Eckhart Public Library is in search of a friendly volunteer to assist with our weekly Learning STEAM through LEGOs program. This volunteer should be good with young people, not mind getting a little messy, and shouldn’t mind a loud environment. Volunteer would need to arrive at 12 p.m. on each Monday to help prepare materials for LEGO Club which may include: printing, cutting, sorting LEGOs, and laminating. There may also be some tasks working with paint, solutions, fillers, etc. The volunteer will also stay during Learning STEAM through LEGOs from 1-2 p.m. to assist with the event.

LEGO Club Volunteer

Eckhart Public Library is in search of a friendly volunteer to assist with our weekly LEGO Club at the Teen Library. This volunteer should be good with young people, not mind getting a little messy, and shouldn’t mind a loud environment. Volunteer would need to arrive at 3 p.m. on each Wednesday to help prepare materials for LEGO Club which may include: printing, cutting, sorting LEGOs, and laminating. There may also be some tasks working with paint, solutions, fillers, etc. The volunteer will also stay during LEGO Club from 4-5 p.m. to assist with the event.

Toy Sorting and Cleaning

The toy area is used by many of our patrons with young children, and we want to make sure this area stays clean, organized, and safe. We are in search of a volunteer who can regularly visit to clean toys and organize them, as well as to sanitize toys in our “Yuck Bucket” to keep all our young patrons safe from sharing germs.

Willennar Genealogy Center Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers for the John Martin Smith Collection and the Willennar Genealogy Center as a whole. If you like history, have an eye for detail, and enjoy research and writing you are just the person we’re looking for! Some computer skills are necessary.

Tasks include:

  • Scanning documents and photos
  • Data Entry
  • Indexing
  • Microfilm viewing to extract information
  • Proofing
  • Researching
