Meets in the Secret Garden

beginINbooks is a program designed to encourage the development and improvement of skills that children need as they begin kindergarten.

Registration is required and open to those children who are eligible to enter kindergarten in the Fall of 2014.

Each weekly session will include book sharing, rhyme time, games, singing and crafts, allowing the children to work on gross and fine motor skills as well as develop listening and cooperation skills.

Every child will receive an educational manipulative to take home with them each week that relates to the target skill. There will also be an assignment to complete and return the following week.

During the last 15 minutes of each
session, while the children are working on a craft project, parents are encouraged to meet with a professional educator. This will give parents time to ask questions and gain a better understanding of what they can do at home to encourage their children and reinforce skills covered in the program.

Remember, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. Anything you can do to promote learning will make a big difference in the life of your child.
