Celebrate the Life of Dr. Leasure

Dr. Leasure also played a key role in the founding of the public library in Auburn and the erection of the Eckhart Public Library. She was a popular public persona in the community, taking an active role in the Women's Christian Temperance Union and literary circles. She was also a published author, poet and speaker.

The DeKalb County Historian, John Bry, has located the modern day descendants of this remarkable and honorable woman. Join the library in welcoming the Leasure family back to Auburn and celebrate the life and accomplishments of Dr. Lida Leasure. Local history lovers will want to attend this special event.

Introducing Express Fiction

We heard your concerns and have reevaluated the New Fiction check out time of seven days for all new fiction. As we are experiencing a shrinking print budget, Eckhart Public Library will now be offering two check out options to make the most of our available titles for all library users.

For patrons who want a faster turn over on the newest hot titles, Express Fiction is now available! Each Express Fiction book will check out for seven days and, if no one is on hold for the item, have one renewal. After that, there will be a charge of fifty cents a day for late Express items.

We will still have the standard 14 day check out available, with a late charge of ten cents a day, for non Express items for those who would like their items a little longer.
